After 5+ years, I'm suspending my commitment to this ballpark drive. There are possible sites; there is a viable financing plan. Of course, there would still be much work to do.

The critical issue is that an affiliated baseball team may not be moved to Sonoma County without the permission of the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A's. The Giants are unwilling to discuss granting that permission until their own territorial issue in Santa Clara County is resolved. (While frustrating, the Giants' decision is not without logic.) As for an independent team, it is difficult to finance a ballpark given the historic instability of independent leagues.

A very sincere "thank you" to the hundreds of you who have lent your support over the years. I hope our effort will ultimately be successful. There may be an opportunity after the San Jose issue is resolved, but to be successful, it will require a level of local political will that we have not heretofore seen.
