Do you miss the Soonoma County Crushers? Are you a fan of good old-fashioned minor league baseball? Do you like the idea of going to a game without driving an hour and a half and spending an arm and a leg? Then you might be interested in an effort to build a new stadium for minor league baseball in our county, lead by Kenwood resident Chris Lee. Chris is assistant news director at KRON-TV in San Francisco, and is also the chair of the Santa Rosa Convention and Visitors Bureau's Minor League Baseball Task Force. Its other members are: David Glass, Petaluma Mayor; Ken Murakami, General Manager Hilton Hotels Sonoma County; Jim Olmsted, land use planning consultant; and Maureen Renfro, Executive Director, Convention and Visitors Bureau. These guys are serious. They are confident of attracting a minor league team once they find a site on which to build a stadium (largely without public funding.) If you want to find out more, check out the website www.sonomabaseball.org.
